Our Story

I think stories should be fun.

And especially when you're a kid, they have to be physical so you can read them with a flashlight in your bed.

I grew up on classical stories, the ones where the woods were dark, the dragons were real, and the youngest child could still win by being brave and good. A hard thing to read as the oldest sibling, but what can you do?

Somewhere along the way, children's stories got softer and louder at the same time. I want to bring back the old kind that I grew up with. I miss the old magic I felt in stories as a kid, and I want to make sure that the modern world and upcoming generations still have a chance to stew in the magic like I did.

So, each month I write a new tale, print it, bind and post it, one envelope at a time. Because no matter how old you are, it's always fun to get things in the mail. And make no mistake, Tales From a Far Distant Land are not just for children. Be it a night in with your spouse, or just something fun to read to yourself, the old magic is for everyone.

"The baby has known the dragon intimately ever since he had an imagination. What the fairy tale provides for him is a St. George to kill the dragon."
— G.K. Chesterton

That's what I hope to send you into: not a world without dragons, but a world where dragons may be slain.

Thank you for letting a far distant land into your mailbox.

Yours Truly,

Jackson Letsche, Postmaster for the Far Distant Lands
